Cabinet stacking?

Hi all.
Quick question in regard to using more than 1 MVW cab: do they stack like normal instrument cabs?

I'm looking at getting a couple of 110s for the flexibility offered by a pair of cabinets.

Will this cause problems with the event horizon?

I don't know for sure about the bass cabs, but when you stack the PA cabs it gets better. By a big margin.

They sound great when stacked. You just get a huge "event horizon".And they sound great stacked on their sides. More like a line array.

I thought the Mains/tops/fullrange were supposed to be horizontal.

Yes they usually are, but it's a different sound when stacked vertically. I would run a single cab horizontally, but with two cabs it yields a different sound presentation when stacked vertically. Not better or worse---just different.

With the 110's Steve had thought of a cool idea which I've yet to try. Two 110's on the floor vertically.High sections next to each other.You can even angle them slightly toward each other.
That way you get the mid/high sections cross-firing in the horizontal and vertical planes.I'll have to try it.Theoretically it should yield a HUGE sound stage as you have the lower mid drivers angled up toward you.

Harley is making me a 110 flex which I will be utilizing for organ.
So it's electric bass, but maybe not what talkbass members are used to

Horizontally?? I've NEVER heard of that being the right way, just the PRACTICED way, since "the sound guy" always saw "the previous sound guy" set up that way. I've always heard about the comb filtering that causes.

The cross firing really helps mitigate the comb filtering. Now I may have my nomenclature messed up but as Duke has explained to me---comb filtering in the horizontal plane is very noticeable but in the vertical plane---not so much.

Initially (with my first--a 2x8) I always ran it vertically (that cab was 30" wide and only 12" tall) and it sounded great. With the other cabs I prefer horizontal but they do sound fine vertically. In the vertical position the drivers on one side are pointing right at you due to the cross firing angle. You can REALLY hear yourself.

These days with a MAS46 I've been regularly putting it on a chair. It loses very little bass when elevated and I can hear myself really well.
